At Vestas, we’re proud to be part of the action-packed world of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship as Principal Partner to the Mercedes-EQ Formula E™ Team. Through our partnership, we are committed to driving progress our respective sectors and spreading our shared message that power and performance go hand-in-hand with a sustainable future. With our second season of the partnership well underway in 2021, and as part of our commitment across Vestas to drive sustainability in everything we do, we’ve decided to take these ambitions a step further.

Therefore, we are proud to announce that we have committed to four Vestas in Formula E Sustainability Pledges. Our pledge encompasses a number of sustainability initiatives within our Formula E partnership, both on and off the racetrack. These initiatives are in line with Vestas’ corporate sustainability strategy and are rooted in four greater partnership goals.

As Principal Partner to the Mercedes-EQ Formula E™ Team, we’ve committed to a number of sustainability initiatives both on and off the racetrack to amplify our greater ambitions for a sustainably powered world. We are proud to officially launch the following initiatives today with our Vestas in Formula E Sustainability Pledges:

  • CARBON FOOTPRINT: We will map, measure and benchmark the carbon footprint of our Formula-E related activities with the purpose of minimising our footprint, and mitigate our impact through team initiatives.
  • CIRCULARITY: We will map, measure and benchmark waste generated by our FE activities with the purpose of minimising waste generation in later seasons.
  • PEOPLE: We will spread the message of sustainability in everything we do through targeted messaging to key stakeholders.
  • ENERGY TRANSITION: We will work with the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team and partners to reduce the usage of fossil fuels by implementing environmentally responsible battery and EV charging solutions.

With these pledges, we aim to further power Vestas’ own sustainability ambitions, while simultaneously supporting the Team’s sustainability activities to the greatest extent possible. We prefer to concentrate on focused, Vestas-driven efforts where we can have the highest impact possible – particularly via tangible activities within the Formula E platform. Our pledges have been defined and selected with this intent in mind.
